Pesaro and Urbino are administered as one province, though in reality they are two very different and charming cities. Pesaro extends towards the sea in the gentle valley formed by the river Foglia, and enjoyed its heyday under the reign of the Della Rovere family (XVIth and XVIIth Centuries).
Birthplace of Giocchino Rossini, it plays host to the Rossini Opera Festival, held each year in August.
Urbino, the well-known city of art, rises in a strategic postion on a hilltop. Bramante and Raffaello Sanzio were born here, and Baldassarre da Castiglione described it as 'a city in the form of a palace' . The Palazzo Ducale (ducal palace) houses the National Gallery of the Marches.

Splendido esempio di villa con giardino all’italiana, Villa Caprile venne costruita a partire dal 1640 dal marchese bergamasco Giovanni Mosca, discendente di una nobile famiglia lombarda che si trasferì nelle Marche nel 1550, in seguito all’ottenimento dell’investitura del castello di Gradara. A Caprile il nobile volle realizzare la sua residenza estiva in cui trascorrere villeggiature e tenere ricevimenti, attribuendole fin dall’inizio una destinazione di svago. Questa tesi è confermata da una descrizione ritrovata nel diario di viaggio di monsignor Lancisi, mandato da papa Clemente XI Albani nel ducato di Urbino. Dopo aver delineato la struttura e le decorazioni della villa, il monsignore si sofferma in particolare sui giochi d’acqua dei giardini, in cui Tivoli o a Frascati alcuno dei loro artifici.

Villa Imperiale
There are no translations available.  Villa Imperiale è una magnifica residenza rinascimentale in stile manierista posta nel cuore del Parco San Bartolo. Il complesso architettonico è stato costruito in due fasi successive, la prima delle quali risale alla seconda metà del ‘400, quando Alessandro Sforza diede incarico, probabilmente al Laurana o a Giorgio di Matteo da Sebenico, di realizzare un progetto per una dimora difensiva in cui fosse possibile tuttavia dedicarsi piacevolmente anche agli otia e alla cura dell’anima.

Tra Gubbio e Urbino, nelle storiche terre dei Duchi di Montefeltro, è possibile soggiornare nel complesso di Casa Lapis, situato nel centro storico di Cagli. Una piccola ed antica città, ricca di storia, arte, tradizioni e che conserva ancora la quiete dei tipici ed antichi borghi marchigiani. Casa Lapis , fu un tempo dependance del dirimpettaio seicentesco palazzo Mochi, dove nacque e visse il pittore cagliese Gaetano Lapis.

Villa L’isola
Ten minutes from Urbino by car, this fascinating 16th Century building takes its name from the shape carved out by the river Metauro ('isola' means island in English). The first part of the building dates back to the XVth Century, and was erected as a hunting lodge belonging to Count Federico Bonaventura , a figure of some importance in the Duchy of Urbino. It was here that Torquato Tasso wrote the celebrated ode to the Metauro.

Casale Torre del Sasso
This hamlet was built on the site of an ancient dovecot near the old town of Cagli. The houses, which have all been restored, nestle in the surrounding river landscape. There is a splendid view of the town from the beautiful gardens and their tempting swimming-pool surrounded by oaks and holm oaks.

Palazzetto Gambini
The Palazzetto is set within close walking distance of Pesaro's old town centre and boasts a beautiful 17th Century facade, in a street that is characteristic of this pleasant town on the Adriatic coast. It is also very close to the Teatro Storico Rossini (historical theatre)and the Music Conservatory, where an internationally acclaimed Festival is held each August in honour of the great musician.
